Eber & Wein sends everyone who enters a poem a letter that that informs them that "your poem has advanced to the semi-final round of the National Amateur Poetry Competition". They want you to buy a book for $59 with your own poem in it.

" There is no need to make a purchase and your poem MAY still be published even if you do not purchase...". You are soon to receive an "author's proof" of your work. They want you to proofread it and send it back ALONG with a small bio and a $20 fee. (Although they will be "glad" to publish your poem without the bio.) They play on people's feelings and literally use their excitement to steal from them.

The even use "God" and "family" in their letter! They advertise in legit magazines to fool people. It's pure fraud. I even read where a clever man purposefully sent a "non-winning" entry and HE received a letter telling him how wonderful his poem was...

He said, "really? Either their expectations are low or it's a scam"....I choose the latter and so does everyone else who gets these letters and researches these scammers...

Eber and Wein Publishing IS A SCAM!!!

I recently received a mail with my poem I entered in a contest saying all these things I have read!

They will ask you for money and when you call to complain they will send you right to voicemail.. Don't be foolish and buy the book or sign the paper giving up your rights to publish!

How do I find the most recent 2017 winners and december 2016 winners

Guest

2016/2017 UPDATE: This is totally not a scam and don't let anyone convince you otherwise. I entered my poem, made it as a finalist, and will be receiving my published poem in January 2017 sometime.

You're possibly scammed.

And how much money did you make? Are you recieving royalties for each copy with your poem in it that has sold?

If someone is publishing your writing, not paying you, and yet recieving payment. That is STEALING and you are being scammed

Who won the American Poet contest? Still waiting to hear that my granddaughter won or at least tell us who did win.

I am happy to have entered the contest. I also purchased the book and found my poem in it. I may not have won but I am proud that I put myself and my poem out there :)))

Don't ruin it for everyone else.

Which book did you get? I got a letter saying i was a semi finalist and im just wondering when the book will be out, and where im supose to get contact info about the company? The book is supose to be called ( where the mind dwells)

Right the first letter I received said the book will be called where the mind dwells then I received an email saying the book will be called something else... I'm now thinking its a scam too

I received my copy of the book. Where the Mind dwells is the tittle with a sub-tittle Fascination.

I received mine too with the same title, but mine said "Salvation" under it. So the poems probably go in a collection of books called "Where the Mind Dwells" with a secondary title or edition title for each book...

Like the man who posted above me, his book was "Fascination", mine was "Salvation" and I'm sure there's others out there. This place is not a scam... It does take awhile to progress through the competition, but it's real. The bio for $20 is optional, I didn't do it.

Buying the book is also optional, but the books are being sold at Barnes & Noble and Amazon like they claim, I've looked them up. Since I thought it was very expensive to buy a poem book for that cost (I believe it was $50 to $70, somewhere in that range when I looked it up), I didn't buy the book... However, about 1 to 3 months after I passed on buying it, I received a copy of the book at NO COST to my surprise! I didn't pay a dime during the entire contest yet still received a copy of the book.

So if this is a scam, what money did they make off of me?

I received my book in the beginning of 2016, I think it was March. I hope my experience helps you decide this is not a scam and I plan on entering again this year.

So it's true? I got a letter saying "congratulations you've penned a wonderful verse and I'm excited to inform you that your poem had been advanced to the semi- final round of poetry nations...." And then I filled in the form and sent it ( I live in the uk) and today I got a phone call, to which I missed because I was at school.

Did everyone else get a phone call? Is it a scam?

I don't get how people keep going on about scamming....because A. the Department of Justice keeps an eye on internet fraud, and perhaps poetry competition fraud?

B. Whoever came up with the company decided it would be a competition and not a free for all publishing spree, so of course they're going to offer selling their products . C. You can buy the book on amazon for 60 bucks anyways, so why not get 20 dollars off with your own poem in it from the actual publishing company?

They don't force anyone to buy their books. If you don't get the book from Amazon, well that is just sad. I see it as a friendly letter and it's a lot better than what some people in this world have to say.

Write an e-book with your own poems in it and call it that, sell it on kindle and go through Amazon yourself.

so i was congratulated by a letter, on making it to the semi finals of poetry nations national poetry competition on dec, 15, 2015. has anyone have any idea of when they will pronounce the winners and let the non winners know as well, and that they can still be published in the book called "where the minds dwell"

Maybe some just havent won. I am completely satisfied with what i have won, it was as mentioned and i received exactly what a winner was told. I understand some people will feel bitter when they dont get first place or a placing that requires awarding.

from what I understand you don't have to buy, but you do have to send back to entry confirmation.
